In memory of Grant P. Goldman
Chesapeake - Grant P. Goldman, 51, of Chesapeake, passed away, Thursday, August 28, 2014. Born in Norfolk, he was the son of Dorthea B. Goldman and the late Dr. Edwin E. Goldman. Grant was the founder, owner and operator of various assisted living facilities in Virginia and North Carolina. He was a Past President of the Virginia Adult Home Association. He was also appointed to the Regulatory Advisory Committee for the Virginia Department of Social Services and the Mayor's Commission on Long Term Planning in Chesapeake.  He was a member and two time Past President of the Deep Creek Ruritan Club.
Including his mother, Grant is survived by his wife, Traci Goldman; children, Megan, Katie, Grant,Garrett, William and Michael; siblings, Gretchen Owens and husband Roger, Edwin Goldman and wife Misty and Georgia Goldman; a companion and caregiver, Shanna Smith and her daughters, Sidney and Payton Smith; an uncle, Larry Goldman and wife Elizabeth; an aunt, JoAnn Goldman; a nephew, Brett Goldman and a niece, Summer Rickabaugh as well as numerous cousins and extended family.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at the Great Bridge Chapel of Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Deep Creek Ruritan Club, P.O. The Deep Creek Community Emergency Response Team  (CERT) meets at the clubhouse on the first Monday at 7:00 of each month.  We are the first responders for any type of disasters in our community.

The Chesapeake Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association (CCPAAA) meets at the Deep Creek Ruritan clubhouse at 7:00 PM on the second Tuesday of each month.  The Citizens Police Academy is a 14-week program (one 3-hour class per week) designed to acquaint Chesapeake citizens with the many facets of our city's police department.  Two sessions are normally held each year - one in the Spring and one in the Fall.  Graduates of the Citizens Police Academy are eligible to join the CCPAAA.  For more information about the Citizens Police Academy, contact Neil Morgan at <>.  Additional information about the CCPAAA is posted on their Facebook page - "Chesapeake Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association."
